Acne is a skin condition that appears as a result of overproduction of oil through the oil glands of your skin. The oil that usually lubricates your skin gets caught in clogged oil ducts and ends in what we recognise as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads on the surface of skin. Occasionally it also includes deeper skin lesions which are called cysts. The areas of your skin which are most susceptible to acne are those areas that contain the largest number of oil glands. For instance, it's estimated that there are 2, 000 oil glands per square inch on the forehead alone. The face, chest, shoulders, and back are the areas with the highest percentage of oil glands.
